Stephen graduated from Portland State University in 2014 obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on structural engineering. At PSU Stephen was a member of the Student Steel Bridge Team where he gained knowledge and experience in structural design and fabrication. In the fall of 2015, Stephen accepted a position with ZCS Engineering in the Grants Pass location. He has AutoCAD Drafting experience and is gaining experience in the design and drafting of structural systems.
During her 19-year career, Marcy Pierce has had many opportunities to work on a wide array of project types. Her experience encompasses multi-million dollar elementary schools, healthcare facilities, custom home design and renovation, and building plan review of countless healthcare facilities throughout the State of Oregon.
Jeff joined ZCS in January, 2017. He graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelors of Landscape Architecture in 2014. Prior to joining ZCS, Jeff worked for Galbraith & Associates, KenCairn Landscape Architecture and Arkitek. A notable achievement of his is a 2014 Oregon ASLA Student Merit Award for the Eugene Green Alley Project. In his spare time, Jeff likes to go on bike tours and go back packing.
Mike joined the ZCS team in January of 2017. He previously owned his a Construction business for seven years and also worked for a large construction company where he was a Project Superintendent managing Municipal, retail, and civil projects for eleven years. Currently, Mike holds Journeyman cards in the Operating Engineers and Carpenters Unions and Storm Water Pollution Prevention from the DEQ. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his family on the ranch.
Dick is a graduate of the University of Colorado, in Boulder where he received a BSCE degree [with honors] in 1952. After graduation he went to work for Morrison-Knudsen Construction Company, working as a project field engineer on the Littleton Dam on the Connecticut River in New Hampshire. He took a hiatus from his engineering career in 1955, joining the FBI and serving as a special agent in Washington, D.C., Louisville, Kentucky, and New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1960, Dick resumed his engineering career at Inland Steel Products where he rose to the position of National Director of Architecture and Engineering Services. He left Inland Steel to form CDS, a firm that designed flexible space systems.
In 1976, Dick moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon to become an engineering instructor at Oregon Institute of Technology. He remained at OIT until 2001, retiring as a Professor of Civil Engineering and Head of the Department of Civil Engineering. During his tenure at OIT, he founded Zbinden Engineering where he developed a consulting engineering practice, serving as the chief designer for numerous building structures, roads, highway, bridge, drainage and planning projects. Dick retired from active practice in 2003. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for ZCS Engineering, Inc. as Vice President.
Dick served on the Oregon State Board of Examiners for Engineering and Land Surveying during the late 1990s. During his tenure on the Board, he chaired the Evaluations and Qualification Committee, the Law Enforcement Committee, and served as a member of the Rules Committee. He served as the Board President from 1999 through 2001.
Russ Carter graduated from the Civil Engineering Technology program at the Oregon Institute of Technology in 1990. His academic background is diverse in the engineering field and includes surveying, public works, construction, and structural engineering disciplines. Prior to his employment with ZCS Engineering, formerly Zbinden-Carter Engineering, he gained extensive engineering and construction experience in the bridge and highway construction field.
During his employment with ZCS Engineering, Russ has served as project manager on a multitude of structural and civil projects. His engineering background includes municipal, industrial, commercial, agricultural, medical, institutional, and residential projects.
Louise is a graduate of Southern Oregon State College where she received a Bachelor of Science in Business (Accounting) in 1976. Upon graduation she went to work at Molatore, Gerbert, Rusth, and Company, CPAs, as a staff accountant. In this position she gained practical experience in tax and accounting issues. Louise established a consulting practice in 1980, advising clients on a variety of tax and accounting matters and preparing federal and state income tax returns through 1994.
Louise began working with Zbinden Engineering in 1989 on a consulting basis, assisting with payroll and income tax issues. She became a staff member in the mid 1990s and has helped develop the accounting and office management systems that have been put in place as the business has grown from a single-office firm to a multi-office firm. In her position as Controller at ZCS, Louise has oversight responsibilities in the areas of general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, human resource issues, and office systems.
Janine was born and raised in the Klamath Basin and joined ZCS in the spring of 2008. Her past experience in the banking industry has proved valuable to the company as she is now an important member of our corporate financial administration support group. Janine enjoys the outdoors, especially snowboarding with her two boys.
Chips Warrington has been an Independent Information Technology Consultant since 1993 after a varied career as a Textile Importer, Boatyard Owner, and Real Estate Developer. He has consulted for medical and publishing organizations, in addition to other small businesses, who committed themselves to technology as they experienced the growth, success and returns possible.
Chips began consulting with ZCS in 2003. Originally he assisted with the design and implementation of computer systems as the number of offices in the company increased and technological needs became more complex. He joined the staff in March of 2007 as Information Technology Director. He is responsible for the on-going maintenance, expansion, and upgrades of advanced systems required to provide ZCS with tools that guarantee efficiency, advanced engineering capability, and reliability.
Matthew has over twelve years of structural engineering experience and has been with ZCS Engineering since March of 2003. He began his studies in the Civil Engineering and Geomatics program at the Oregon Institute of Technology in 1998 and then graduated in 2002. He has experience with a variety of projects, including educational, commercial and industrial structures. As Director of Structural Engineering, Matthew works with the Operations Team to provide Structural expertise in addition to leading and growing the Structural team for all of the ZCS offices.
Josh began his career at ZCS Engineering as an intern during the spring of 2005. He is originally from Albany, Oregon and moved to Klamath Falls to attend the Oregon Institute of Technology, where he graduated in 2006. Josh officially joined the ZCS team after graduation and has since worked on a variety of projects as an engineering technician.
While at ZCS, Josh has specialized in commercial developments for Sky Lakes Medical Center, Oregon Institute of Technology, Ashland School District, City of Grants Pass Public Safety Department, South Valley Bank & Trust, Jeld-Wen, and many other important clients. Josh is also one of the head designers of commercial and residential septic systems including the newly re-designed septic system for Jeld-Wen’s Chiloquin Door Plant and for the Charter Community School located in Fort Klamath, OR. Josh also enjoys and is very efficient at overall site programming and layout.
Steven is a 2012 graduate from the Oregon Institute of Technology where he received his degree in Civil Engineering. He began working for ZCS in the fall of 2013 after working as a project engineer for a modular construction company for a year. While at ZCS he has gained experience in both AutoCAD and Revit drafting. He is currently gaining experience in the design and analyses of gravity and lateral systems of structures.
Yabori came to work for ZCS in December, 2014, bringing a new dynamic to the team. He was born in Costa Rica and moved to Klamath Falls in 1986. Later he attended Tulane School of Architecture, and graduated in 2001. After graduation he followed his passion and became a carpenter/furniture maker, making custom pieces for clients throughout the Southern United States. He then moved back to Klamath Falls in 2004 and worked as head of design for a local Design Build company, while learning to find a balance between design, construction costs, and needs of the client.
Caleb is originally from Clackamas, Oregon. After finishing his military service he moved to Klamath Falls to attend school at Oregon Institute of Technology in the fall of 2013. He is currently working as a Structural Engineering Intern for ZCS Engineering until he obtains his Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering in 2017. Caleb plans to continue working with the company following graduation and pursue a career in Structural Engineering.
Jake has been with ZCS Engineering since January 2015. Specializing in structural design, Jake has worked on a variety of projects including custom residential, small commercial, and educational facilities. Jake graduated from Portland State University with a BSCE in 2014, and prior to ZCS had a variety of experience including bridge engineering with ODOT and conveyance design with Clean Water Services.
Chris began working at ZCS Engineering in November 2015 as a Civil Engineering Technician for the Klamath Falls Office. Chris has a background in Surveying and Civil Engineering, with 8 years surveying in the private industry, and 2 years in Government Cadastral for Bureau of Land Management. He was a Civil Engineering Technician for 2 years prior to joining the ZCS Team. With his experience in Drafting using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3d, Chris is an asset to the Civil Engineering Team. He also holds a Oregon Department of Transportation(ODOT) certificate for General Construction Inspector.
Joëlle works as a Project Architect / Project Manager for various master planning and architectural efforts. Her experience ranges from multi-family residential developments to large-scale public projects. To date, all of Joëlle’s projects have been delivered on time and on or under budget.
Casey obtained a Batchelor's degree of Materials Science and Engineering from the University of California, Merced in 2014. He moved to Klamath Falls, and in early 2016, Casey accepted a position with ZCS Engineering. He is currently gaining experience in the design of gravity and lateral systems. Casey is also pursuing a Master's Degree in Civil engineering from The Oregon Institute of Technology to develop his skills in structural design. In his free time, Casey enjoys winter on the slopes and summer motorcycle rides.
Zach attended Oregon Institute of Technology and graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor’s of Civil Engineering. He interned with ZCS during school and filled a permanent position with ZCS after graduation. Since that time, he has gained valuable experience working as a designer and project manager in the civil, structural, and construction engineering divisions of ZCS. This experience has provided him with a broad understanding of the construction process as a whole and exposed him to a wide variety of projects.
Zach moved to the Portland metro area in 2011 to manage the Oregon City branch and is working to further develop our clientele in that market. His strengths as a project manager for ZCS have matured through his involvement in many private and public projects and have helped in the development of valuable client relationships.
Andrei began working for ZCS Engineering in April of 2014 for Oregon City office. He obtained his Bachelors of Engineering with focus on structural engineering from Portland State University in 2014. He has experience in AutoCAD drafting, and is currently gaining experience in the design and analysis of the gravity and lateral systems of structures.
Kevin graduated from the University of Notre Dame in May 2014 with a Bachelors in Civil Engineering. While at Notre Dame, he was a Division 1 athlete and a two time All-American in fencing. Kevin began working for ZCS in June of 2014 for the Oregon City office. He has experience in AutoCAD drafting and RISA modeling. He currently is gaining experience in the analysis and repair of bridges.
Vanessa joined ZCS Engineering in June of 2016. As office manager she performs her administrative duties and does her part to keep the office running smoothly. She enjoys spending time with her family, trying out new recipes in the kitchen and loves to travel.
Shaun obtained his bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from Portland State University in 2015 and began working for ZCS Engineering in September of 2015. He has several years of construction experience. He is currently gaining experience in the design and drafting of structural projects.
Shawn joined the Oregon City office team in June of 2015. He graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelors in Civil Engineering. At ZCS, he focuses on structural engineering. Prior to joining ZCS, he gained experience in the field by working for a construction firm and surveyor. In his spare time, Shawn likes to enjoy skiing.
Vicente obtained his bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University in 2014 and began working for ZCS Engineering in December of 2015. He is currently gaining experience in the design and drafting of structural projects.
Mark began working for ZCS Engineering in June of 2016 at the Oregon City office. He obtained his Bachelors of Science in Engineering from George Fox University in May of 2016. While at ZCS he has gained experience in AutoCAD , and is currently gaining experience in the design and analyses of gravity and lateral systems of structures. Mark enjoys spending time with his family and exploring the outdoors.
Eric began working for ZCS Engineering in August of 2016 at the Oregon City Office. He received his Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering with a Structural Focus from the University of Washington in Seattle, May of 2013. Before joining the ZCS team he worked for 2 years at an Engineering firm in Portland as an E.I.T. and drafter. Eric likes to spend his free time organizing, and competing in competitive video gaming tournaments.
Kristofer began working for ZCS Engineering in January of 2017 in the Oregon City office. He graduated in 2010 from the University of Stavanger in Norway, with a B.Sc. degree in Structural Engineering and a M.Sc. degree in Structural Engineering and Material Science. Over the last few years he has been working in the Portland area on a wide range of projects from healthcare facilities and government institutions, to higher education and office buildings. He has also been involved in a large variety of Tenant Improvement projects, ranging from retail to healthcare and office spaces.
Matthew graduated from the University of Oregon in 2008 with a Bachelors of Architecture. After college he worked for general contractor doing residential construction and spent some time working in an Architectural firm. He went back to school in 2013 to pursue a Civil Engineering degree at Portland State University and will graduate in the spring of 2017. He started working at ZCS in March of 2017 as an Engineering and Architectural Technician. In his free time he enjoys working on his “fixer upper”, hunting, fishing, and camping.
Sy began working at ZCS as an Engineering Technician while obtaining his degree in Civil Engineering at Oregon Institute of Technology, which he completed in June 2002. Prior to working for ZCS, he gained valuable hands-on experience working in the residential and commercial construction field.
During his time at ZCS, Sy has gained extensive engineering experience ranging from custom residential and industrial structures to municipal projects. His enthusiasm for design projects has proven to be an asset to the successful ZCS design team. While working as the branch manager in Grants Pass, he successfully secured many quality client relationships.
Jessica began working for ZCS Engineering in February 2015 as a structural engineering technician for the Grants Pass office. She went briefly to school for architecture at PSU and interned at an architectural firm in Ashland before realizing her interests lie more on the structural side. Living in Portland Jessica worked at structural engineering firm as a drafter for years gaining key design experience before her family moved to Southern Oregon.
Lucas began working for ZCS Engineering in July 2012 as a civil engineering technician for the Grants Pass office. Lucas has obtained his Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering and Surveying Technology. With his experience in Auto CAD drafting and Civil 3D, Lucas is a strong asset to the civil engineering team.
Max is a 2014 graduate of Portland State University where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. As a student, Max interned for a pavement management firm where he obtained significant AutoCAD drafting and pavement analysis experience. At PSU, Max also worked as a surveying lab instructor where he obtained hands-on experience with state-of-the-art hardware. Following graduation, Max received project engineering and construction administration experience working at the Lloyd Blocks ($160 million, multi-phased, 3-residential apartment buildings) project in Portland, OR. Max joined ZCS in 2015 and is currently working towards expanding his engineering design and management skills.
Christina joined the ZCS team in March of 2014 as the Grants Pass Marketing/Office Manager. Her past experience with administrative positions enables her to be an asset to the firm. With her talents in Adobe InDesign, she's able to effectively execute proposals for the firm while also fielding telephone calls, receiving and directing visitors, word processing, filing, as well as internet research abilities and extensive software skills play an important part in her assuring the Grants Pass branch is running smoothly. In her spare time, Christina likes to be adventurous by going skydiving and exploring this beautiful earth.
Walter graduated from the Oregon Institute of Technology in the fall of 2012 with a Bachelor’s of Civil Engineering. His main focus was structural engineering. He is also a member of the ‘Order of the Engineer’. Prior to college he interned as a draftsman with Precision Structural Engineering as a sophomore in high school, where he worked on structural and architectural drawings. Post-graduation from OIT he worked there as an Engineering Technician until August of 2014, upon accepting a position with ZCS at the Grants Pass Location. During that time he gained experience in structural design of projects ranging from custom wood residences and steel commercial projects to non-conventional building types such as straw bale homes, earth bag domes, and treehouse resorts. He has experience with a large variety of structural engineering software, and 3-D modeling in RISA. Walter will use this background to help ZCS serve its client base from the Grants Pass branch office.
Malia joined the ZCS team in October 2015 as a civil engineering technician in the Medford Office. She attended Oregon State University until 2014 when she accepted a construction management fellowship in Malawi with Construction for Change, a Seattle based non-profit. Prior to working in Africa, Malia interned with David Evans and Associates in Salem, Oregon, as well as Pierce County Department of Facilities Management in Tacoma, Washington. She has been involved in projects with Engineers Without Borders and hopes to continue volunteerism in the region and abroad.
Sarah started working with ZCS in October, 2016. She is a 2012 graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering. She comes to us from Gilbane Building Company where she worked as a Project Engineer managing several simultaneous renovation projects for Virginia Tech. Sarah moved to Oregon from Virginia with her husband in March 2016 to try out the West Coast and enjoy the innumerable outdoor adventure opportunities. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys hiking, kayaking, and fishing with her husband. It doesn’t hurt that the beach is less than 2 hours away also!
Mark joined the Grants Pass office in January 2017 as a drafting technician. He obtained his Associate of General Studies with an Architecture locally at Rogue Community College. He is currently gaining valuable experience in structural and architectural drafting.
